Since I got back from the states I’ve found myself tuning into a lot more radio stations on my DAB radio in the office. I caught the bug when I was over the water and started hearing a lot of cool bands I’d never heard of in the UK (turns out that it’s true, we’re at least 6 months behind the rest of the world when it comes to most things - music, movies and so on and on) so recently I’ve decided it would be really cool to be able to listen to DAB radio when I’m on the move in order to stay abreast.
Despite what you may have been led to believe, you really don’t need to have a huge radio strapped to your back whilst wearing an overly large pair of technics headphones balanced on your bonce for you to be able to look cool whilst hooking up to your favourite DAB station. No sir.
All you actually need is a DAB radio. A really cool portable one.
“Hold on” I hear you ask.
“What the hell is DAB?”
Well my soon to be educated friend, DAB, short for Digital Audio Broadcast(ing) will eventually replace the existing analogue radio service we have piping through the airways at the moment. Digital Radio brings more choice (radio stations from all over the world), improved sound quality, no re-tuning (no more static) and extra information on broadcasts such as track names and sports results right to your very finger tips in a portable, carry-around-in-your-pocket radio form.
“But I already have an Ipod, doesn’t that mean something else to carry?”
Not at all. Save your precious pocket space for funner things like jammy doger crumbs and pocket oose as I have the perfect solution.
Look no further than the portable Roberts Robi Ipod DAB Radio.
This cute little gadget plugs straight inline with your Ipod and lets you listen to your favourite FM radio stations as well as the new DAB format wherever you go.
The inline remote lets you control your iPod volume and music track and the full unit itself is completely powered by your ipod. No extra batteries needed.
The coolest thing for me is it’s small size and weight (only 30g) and it fits snugly in your pocket.
It even comes with earphones included!
I’ve Been carrying mine everywhere and it’s officially my new favourite toy. (was a complete steal at £49.95 over at Roberts Radios)
If you’re looking for cool things to spend your bread on be sure to check out those retro Cath Kidston Star Roberts Radio and those sleek Project Turntables whilst you’re there ![]()
Hypnotic Language Patterns the Master Key to Persuasion Skills
NLP Training will give you mastery over hypnotic language patterns and how to use them conversationally in any context. This article examines some of the uses for NLP Hypnotic Persuasion Skills.
Hypnosis is all about altering your states of consciousness. Hypnotic language is about how you can alter states of consciousness through the use of language. This is a natural process that we do to each other all the time. Can you remember a time when someone said something to you that set you down a particular thought process and you missed some of what was said because you were thinking of other things? This is the process of hypnosis. Learning hypnotic language patterns is about understanding how this process happens, how you can induce it in others at will and how you can use this to get them to where you want them to go.
There are some misconceptions about conversational hypnotic language. Firstly using these patterns does not mean you can get people to do anything they would normally object to. It is a way of bypassing objections and focusing on the real heart of the matter. Hypnotic language patterns in everyday conversations will not normally send people in to a deep sleep or trance like state. After attending a good NLP Practitioner Course you will have the skills in inducing these sorts of states, but in a normal conversation your objectives are not usually to take people this far.
If you had these skills what would you use them for? A sales person might want to bypass the usual sticking points like price and get you to access the joys of owning the product. A manager might want use this to get their team to focus on getting great results rather than their current problems. A parent might get their children to connect the fun and excitement of going out to play with doing homework. A teacher or trainer might use NLP Persuasion skills to ramp up the desire to learn the skills as a route to manage the amount of concentration and work involved in getting there. Looking at your computer screen, reading through these ideas you are thinking of multiple uses for hypnotic language patterns for your situations and applications.
One of the most common uses of hypnotic language patterns is to access specific emotions from the past and attach them to situations, experiences and things in the present or the future. Here are a few examples of the types of use you might have for this sort of pattern.
A sales person might get their customer to access states of happiness and attach these to the product they are selling. A trainer might take your experience of elation from overcoming big obstacles and attach it to the successful conclusion of the course. If you are flirting you might take the feelings of warmth and companionship felt from a lover and attach them to yourself. A manger might get you to access feelings of support and camaraderie of a high performing team and get you to attach those feelings to seeing the other members of your team.
This is just one way of using hypnotic language. A good NLP Training Course will teach you many other ways to use hypnotic language. Imagine the possibilities of being able to speak in a way that draws people in until they are hanging on every word you say. How about capturing and leading the imagination to the exact thoughts you want a person to think about. How would that increase your persuasion ability. As you think through these possibilities consider what you might be doing differently when you gain these skills. This is what good NLP Training could lead you to achieve.
Five Ways of Beating Stress with NLP Training
This article is all about how you can beat stress through the use of simple NLP techniques. We will discuss what NLP is; the causes of stress and how a little bit of NLP training can help you eliminate all the negative stress in your life.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was devised by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the mid-1970s as a methodology to study success. Bandler and Grinder modelled the thinking of successful people and developed processes that can allow us to think differently. If you know how thoughts occur and how you process them you have the opportunity to develop ways to change how you think. There are a great number of applications for this but the one we shall look at here is how to eliminate negative stress.
The first thing you might recognize is that not all stress is bad. For example the excitement of a rollercoaster ride, the competitive element of sports, going to see a scary movie or the anticipation of something great just about are all examples of good stress. The tension created from wanting to get things done can be a gret source of motivation.
Our bodies are highly developed systems that use emotions to communicate messages to us. For example the butterflies you get in your stomach before a large presentation, a first date or just before doing something important is a message. Your body is trying to tell you that what you are about to do is important and that you should pay attention. Stress occurs when the signals are overloading your ability to act or making you feel bad. On NLP training courses you will learn many different ways to control the way that you think, the signals that are coming from your body and therefore the amount of stress that you feel.
There are many causes of negative stress. We will look at just five of the most common causes and how simple NLP techniques can help you make that change.
Stress is sometimes caused by the anxiety of bad things that might happen in the future. For example you might be doing a presentation and anticipating that it will all go wrong. This is a typical cause of stress for a lot of people. A NLP practitioner course will show you how to run your brain to focus on positive outcomes. This does not automatically mean that the presentation will go well but it will mean that you don’t feel bad when you think of it and can therefore plan and prepare more effectively.
Some people get stressed when they are overwhelmed with the amount of work that they have to do. NLP training will show you how to quickly set achievable goals based on the situation, your values and your overall purpose. Being able to do this well means you can prioritise the work into smaller more manageable chunks.
You might be carrying baggage and negative emotions from the past. A typical example might be a person dwelling on a previous relationship that went wrong and then not being able to move forward from it. There are lots of NLP techniques based on letting go of these negative emotions, thereby relieving the stress and allowing you to get on with your life.
Feeling trapped or helpless is another form of stress. This can be caused by having a fixed perception of the problem. A NLP training course will show you how to look at the problem from multiple perspectives, reframe problems in the light of positive experiences and to be creative about finding solutions. All of these things are geared to allow you to take control and find a way round the problem.
Finally a lot of stress is created by having low self-esteem and limiting beliefs about yourself. Through NLP training you will find many different belief changing tools. Imagine the possibilities of being able to take all of your limiting beliefs and changing them for more empowering and useful beliefs.
NLP practitioner training courses are designed for you to make dramatic changes to your life. In that respect consider the consequences of being able to remove all the negative stress, increase your optimism as well as learning all the tools and techniques you need to think in empowering ways.
